I’ve been crazily busy the last few days so my Photo of the Day is a little bit behind! Here’s a bit of a catchup to yesterday.

My model was not willing on this day so I quickly grabbed a snap of our orchids which are just starting to open.

Forgive me blog lords for I have sinned.. it has been almost a month since my last post… and a LOT has been happening!

First of all, I am am very excited to announce that the Bradford household is expecting a new arrival late October. Ash will become a big sister!!! As you can probably guess she is very excited by the prospect and has already started planning all the torture.. oh I mean FUN things she will get to do with her new sibling! What this means is that I will be focusing on more studio style portrait sessions in my home over the next few months. It’s time to get back to where this whole photography journey started for me and that is with babies and maternity. As it’s been mainly commercial work I have been commissioned for lately I am in need of a portfolio update, so if you know any pregnant mummies-to-be or mummies of new bubbas let them know to keep an eye on the blog as I will be doing some Casting Calls in the next month or so. A casting call is a great chance to receive a session at a highly discounted rate whilst helping me freshen up my portfolio so stay tuned!

I haven’t posted any photos of Ash on the blog since she turned 3 last month so here are a few recent snaps of her looking far too grown up for my liking!

I hope everyone had a great Valentine’s Day! Mine involved getting some rather lovely tulips so all is good with the world

Fun at the Farm : Newcastle Photographer

On the Easter long weekend my husband and I decided to take Ash to Oakvale Farm which is in Port Stephens in NSW Australia. It’s a farm with a few zoo type animals thrown in basically! There are pigs, cows, sheep, goats, ducks by the millions, aswell as camels, kangaroos, llamas, dingos and a menagerie of birds and reptiles. I got to give my new camera a workout and got some shots of some characters to say the least! Here are some of my fave pics from the day. I’ll also been a bit slack in updating my blog so I have a few more posts to catch up on!

This emu was a crack up. He was rather interested in my camera as you can see!

InspireMe 09 :: The Workshop I have been waiting for!

Ok for all you non-photographer folk out there this post will probably mean diddly squat, but I have paid my deposit for the InspireMe 09 workshop which is on at Surfers Paradise in July/August. There are alot of workshops around the traps these days but none have succeeded in getting me to part with my hard earned cash.. until the fabulous Ainslie from WildSpirit photography in Brisbane started organising this workshop.

Anyone familiar with storbist style off camera lighting has probably heard of Zack Arias of OneLight, well he is coming, and so is Erik! Along with these guys is Nichole Van who has such a beautiful style and fantastic actions.

And last… but definitely not least is Joey L. 19 years of age, completely talented, and shooting for some of the biggest names in the world. I have alot to learn

I am looking at arriving in Surfers Paradise a day early and organising a shoot or two so if you know of anyone in the area who would be interested get them to drop me a line!

Mountains, leeches and… echidnas! :: Newcastle Photographer

Today we decided to head up to the Watagans National Park in the 4WD to have a look around and check out the scenery. Our first stop was Boarding House dam but after about 5 minutes of walking we discovered we had stumbled upon what was obviously leech heaven! The horrid little things were everywhere including our shoes so we hot-stepped it back to the car as fast as our little legs would carry us.

We stopped at a few lookouts including Maclean lookout where I took the shot below. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t the best but it was still a spectacular view.

On our way out I still had my camera in my lap when we came across this little guy. He was waddling across the road so I jumped out and grabbed a pic. He wasn’t too keen on having his photo taken though, as soon as he heard me he curled up into a ball!

I pulled out the camera this afternoon as I hadn’t taken any shots of Ash for at least a few days (I was sure she was having withdrawals!). Now Ash has what is called PCS… Photographer’s Child Syndrome. Upon seeing a camera, the head goes down, eye contact is avoided at all costs.. and usually I get a snap of her running away. This afternoon, she was putting on her “pretty beads” and lo and behold actually stood there and smiled at the camera for at least a good 10-20 seconds! Somehow I managed to click away even though I was in complete shock! Here’s a few of my favourites, and then some from down at the water where we lasted a whole 10 minutes before almost melting. This weather is nuts!

The aussie flags were out and about in abundance today! It’s great to se so many people get into the spirit of the day and are proud of our country. The picnic areas around the lake were packed and I saw flags hanging from branches in tress, worn as capes, on every second car. We even got given a little Aussie flag at the checkout at Bunnings

Whatever you did to celebrate, I hope you had a great day! Here’s a few snaps of Ash, playing with her flag then snug as a bug after her shower.

And finally started a blog! After several half-hearted attempts that I never quite got around to finishing, I decided to get my butt into gear and get it up and running. I’ll be adding images from my shoots aswell as some of my daughter Ashleigh no doubt. Also keep an eye out in the next few weeks for the launch of my new Boudoir/Glamour packages. I’ll also be looking for a few lovely ladies to star on my website!
